i realized the other day that since my camera's been broken (last september), i've been missing a primary form of expression. like someone who suddenly realized that they've been restricted in their ability to use their voice properly, or use inflections in their speech--i feel like i've been limited to a robotic monotone.

i finally decided to spend the $220 to get it fixed just over a month ago. i don't know why it was so hard to commit to that amount. because now that i have my camera again, it's one of the first things i tell people about when they ask me "how are things?" and, i've found myself running home during my lunch hours to take photos in perfect early-afternoon light with the giddy anticipation of someone stealing away to see a lover.

so i'm now working on a project that i've been thinking about for seven months (but haven't been able to do). it has to do with my grandmother's things. and oddly, more than anything, i've been feeling a sense of relief and comfort with every photo.

here is one from lunch today.
